Por decimocuarto año consecutivo, la Facultad de Humanidades de Albacete plantea la organización de una exposición que analice las relaciones entre Arte y Literatura. Este proyecto lo desarrollan los alumnos de la asignatura de “Museología y Museografía” de 4º curso del Grado de Humanidades y Estudios Sociales bajo la dirección de sus profesores Fernando González Moreno, Silvia García Alcázar y Noelia Esparcia Blanco.
En esta ocasión, la muestra se centra en la figura del monstruo y en la idea de lo monstruoso como algo que nos genera tanto repulsión como atracción. El monstruo se concibe como un ser fantástico que genera espanto, pero, más allá de esta definición, ha encarnado todo aquello que se sitúa al margen de lo que la sociedad acepta o considera canónico.
La exposición explora el origen del monstruo en las principales civilizaciones y religiones, su desarrollo como metáfora del subconsciente humano, su identificación con lo desconocido o con lo que no comprendemos y los espacios en los que tradicionalmente se le sitúa. También nos interesa el sentido de “monstruoso” que se ha aplicado a todo aquello que se escapaba a la norma, como el arte de ciertos periodos o la mujer que no se consideraba normativa. Todo ello a través de 96 piezas distribuidas en ocho secciones que incluyen libros, pinturas, grabados, proyecciones cinematográficas y objetos de cultura popular.
For the fourteenth consecutive year, the Faculty of Humanities in Albacete is organising an exhibition that explores the relationship between art and literature. This project is being carried out by students on the “Museology and Museography” module in the fourth year of the Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Social Studies, under the supervision of their professors Fernando González Moreno, Silvia García Alcázar and Noelia Esparcia Blanco.
On this occasion, the exhibition focuses on the figure of the monster and the idea of the monstrous as something that evokes both repulsion and attraction. The monster is conceived as a fantastical being that inspires terror, but, beyond this definition, it has come to embody everything that lies outside what society accepts or considers canonical.
The exhibition explores the origin of the monster in major civilisations and religions, its development as a metaphor for the human subconscious, its identification with the unknown or with that which we do not understand, and the spaces in which it is traditionally situated. We are also interested in the sense of ‘monstrous’ that has been applied to everything that deviated from the norm, such as the art of certain periods or women who were not considered normative. All this is presented through 96 pieces distributed across eight sections, including books, paintings, engravings, film screenings and objects of popular culture.
